THE GOLDEN COMPASS | MOVIE REVIEW
This is one crappy movie trying to be a Narnia and falling flat on its arse. Even the movie poster of “the Golden Compass” looks like a rip off of the Narnia movie. The makers, New Line Cinema, after of a string of box office flops, looks likely to have another stinking dead elephant on its hands.
Based on Philip Pullman’s “His Dark Materials” trilogy, the movie is too childish to be believed. New Line may have thought that it could pull of another coup like the “Lord of the Rings“. But without Tolkien and Peter Jackson, the Golden Compass is likely to be remembered as a misguided attempt to replicate the success of the Lord of the Rings.
You will have more fun watching “Enchanted“. At least that movie does not take itself so seriously. The Golden Compass’ CGI and special effects make “the Bee Movie” look like Oscar material. To top it off, the director, Weitz’s direction was so poor and unimaginative, you just felt like walking out of the theater and asking for your money back!
The Golden Compass movie trailer smacks of desperation as they try to portray the film as another Narnia, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings etc without doing anything well.
If you desperately need to be bored, then watch “The Golden Compass“. Otherwise wait to rent the DVD from your local renter.

Funny Singapore Blog
Came across a funny blog by two big mouth guys from Katong called Kok and Boo. Their recent stories were about the movie-going and food-hunting experiences are pretty good stuff.
If you want a slice of real Singapore, this is the blog to visit. These guys may talk tough but I am sure it is just their way of expressing themselves. They may at times seem rather clueless but I am sure they are intelligent guys mixing cock and bull stories with cutting commentary about the way Singaporeans live. Some people may find it offensive but I think they are just trying to make the reading interesting.
Anyway go to this site and decide for yourselves. Here is the link:http://comsg.blogspot.com
